Back in 2014 Thane and his buddy had a ‘crazy’ idea to do a swim in aid of a charity called Miles for Smiles. And they surely swam – from Mozambique to Madagascar covering 469 kilometres in 24 days of hard endurance. They called it the Mad Swim.
Miles and smiles in partnership with Operation Smiles treats children born with cleft lips and palates and other facial deformities provides corrective surgery. For a relatively small amount of money in only 45 minutes a child’s life can be transformed. It not only helps with the childs’ confidence but it helps with problems related to breathing and eating. ]
‘This is one of the most well run and rewarding organisations I’ve encountered’ says Thane.
